car jerking
car jerking
Hi,
I have just changed my spark plugs. After changing them i drove the car and the car started to jerk when accerlating.
So i changed the HT Leads but the problem still persists!
Any ideas what could be causing this?
Please help
cheers

cheers for the reply.
i got the plugs checked and they are ok. the garage said that the gaps should be standard.
only problem with replacing with old bits is that i only have 3 of the 4 plugs! if i leave one of the news one in there and replace other 3 with old should that make a difference?
just about the distributor cap and arm rotor would that cause themn problems if i have only replaced the plugs.
leads are in the correct order as well
any replies would be much appreciated as i am stuck
cheers

Hi
mine jerks when accerlating but it only happens sometimes when i drive especially when going up a small hill or something. happens on a daily basis though but is random
so i normally just turn the car off and back on then it seems ok for a bit
just a copy from the above i got the plugs checked and they are ok. the garage said that the gaps should be standard. plugs are ngk states that they are preset on their website!

weird????
Hi
I will do that but when driving the car on friday it was fine after a while.
it started to jerk as normal i stopped the car and it was ok. but when you quickly put your foot down you miss the jerks. Only when you accelrating slowly it happens around 2000rpm. After driving for a while on friday it was ok but then it happened again. When stopping the car and restarting it, it was then ok. I noticed the temp guage dropped a little bit between 70-90. Normally it always on 90 once heated up could this be related.
i will put the wire back to eliminate the problem but i went to car alarm shop they said this doesnt affect it
cheers

Hi
I changed the temp sensor yesterday! it seems ok at the mo but i canfeel slight hestitation in accerlation bu very minimum. im going to see how it goes if it comes back then will put old plugs in.
Also another question, in the morning when starting the car, i reve the car but when taking foot of gas the revs drop and car turns off! what could be causing this? also when driving when i change gears the revs drop but go back up. when its warm enough it stays at 900rpm but does vary
any ideas?
cheers

a quick and easy problem-solving method for many hesitation and jerking problems is to take the distributor cap off (very easy to do) and squirt WD40 into it, then dry with a lint-free cloth.
oftern moisture gets trapped in there and the spark has more resistance, so under load the car misses. the WD40 removes moisture - it's a superb electrical-solving can of tricks!

hi
finished work today and i stalled the car when i started it as it was in gear! doh! but what happened is the time reset along with journey miles! why would this happen?
then car started to jerk again when accelarting then stops once constant accelration!!!
its only when u put ure foot on gas then when it reaches some spped ok!
turned car off and back on and it was fine just slight!
could it be something else causing it??? electrical????
im just thinking that the ecu might have reset when i disconnected the battery when changing the plugs! not sure if this had a knockon effect anywhere else!

When you disconnect the battery the settings are lost and it takes a while for the ECU to re learn the settings for your car. It will idle lumpy until it compensates, it all depends how much it was compensating in the first place. It should sort itself out after about a week. BTW don't be tempted to remove the ECU otherwise you will have to re-enter the imobilser codes and have it reset...
