Idle Problem

Post by Musicfreek2002 »

I've not long had a problem with my car, it kept missing so i bought the following (after being advised to buy a tuning guy):

Dizzy Cap
Rotor Arm
Coil
Plugs
HT Leads

The above problem has now been resolved but i now have another problem:

The car idles at like 2000rpm and takes ages to sink back down, ive tried cleaning the throttle body and checkin all the possible ports i could find but to no avail

Anybody got any ideas as im getting rather p***ed off with her now?

Right - Not promising anything here but

The engine was unhappy cos of missfires etc and as a result the block learn has cranked the idle control valve round - you have now replaced or reset everything but the block learn is wrong - it will take some time to reset itself if ever so

Provided you have your radio code etc

Dissconnect the battery lead and leave it for an hour

Re-connect and it should phaf and fart around for a few mins and then sort itself out

i had the exact same prob so the garage put new throttle body on,all was fine till last week when i run my battery down, when going again the revs were all over and rarely dipped below 2k,so i took batt of for 25 mins,re-connected it,let it idle a bit but it still wasnt great, anyway after a week or so its settled itself down back to normal, good luck mate.

Makes you wonder whether you needed a new throttle body first time around??
