A couple of questions

Post by Mint »

I have a 1997 Polo 1.0 L, and want to know whether i have the 45bhp engine or the 50bhp engine. I'm wondering as ive read that VW uprated the engine sometime in 1997.

I also want to know whether it has an electronic engine immobilizer.

Many thanks

check the log book
Meaning the VW manual or the Service History? I have checked both already - the service history has no information; the dealer didn't bother to fill it in by the looks of it, and the Polo manual isn't any help at all as it refers to all Polo models.

Any other suggestions please?

show us a picture of your key!

I would guess it's the non-immobiliser variant. and 45bhp.

but that's a guess. pics of the engine bay?

Phone your nearest VW dealer with your engine code and number, they'll be able to tell you which you have.

should be under the bonnet in the "skuttle" panel - the bit just below the windscreen.

that's a chassis number I think - you could ring up VW with your REG and that would be fine too I think
