does anybody know how to get the rear window out of a mk3 squareback? i need to get it out to treat rust, I also want to take the other windows out (except the front) to sort out the seals.

are they bonded or do they have a rubber seal?
if its a rubber seal then you can push them out prising the rubber as you go... you need a lot of force to do this.. refitting is a case of using a bit of rope.
if it's bonded then it needs to be cut out amd re-bonded back in.. not easy
i used to go window fitting with a mate of mine when he worked for autowindscreens, and when you see the pros do it it looks easy as pie.... but something that i really wouldnt wanna do myself as even though it takes a lot of pressure to crack a screen, it is quite easy to give them that little bit too much, and BANG, one fuxored window.
it would prolly only cost a fiver each way (removal and refitting of non-bonded glass) for you to call out a one-man-band window fitter out of the yellow pages.

i think on the squareback they are have a rubber seal, only the coupe's have a bonded rear window. i had to have my front window out for to have a new one fitted, it had a crack! the guy who did it came to the house, and just after we offered him a cup of coffee he had the old one out, he kicked it out
still great job and good price as well! i think its just a case of popping it out, but don't take my word for it, could cost a lot if it screws up!
if i were u i would seek some proffessional advise, they might tell u how to do it!
