Small circle at the bottom of the window?

Post by Mike_T »

I was checking out my VIN number on the dashboard yesterday, after reading dj's post, and I noticed a small circlular ring just in from the bottom left hand side of the driver's side window.
To my knowledge the window hasn't been replaced so this should be the standard VW window. It's also almost reflective and from certain angels you cant really see it.

Just curious as to what this is, anyone else have one? Or know what I am talking about?

Was washing my motor today and as I was doing the windscreen remembered your post, had a looked and yes, I noticed the small circular ring as well...not entirely sure what it is for but I think it may have something to do with the temperature reading on the dash...i.e it could be a temperature sensor. Strange place to put it as it would almost certainly be cold all the time with the wind blowing on it when the car is in motion!

I thought the same thing when I first saw it. Seems like pretty a strange place to have a sensor?

Perhaps VW were going to add a auto windscreen wiper system and then changed their minds

I've noticed that there are more than one circle, in fact I think there are four in total and they go all the way along the bottom off the windscreen...strange eh? I think it may be a case for the X-files! heh heh!
