1998 polo 1.0 idle problem
My girlfriend has recently complained that her polo has been hard to start from cold, also that the temperature guage is reading a bit lower than normal when the car is fully warmed up, I decided to do the easy jobs first, I changed the plugs and checked the distributer cap and rotor arm, all so far so good. I also noticed that the throttle body had quite a lot of black deposits in it so cleaned all this out with solvent cleaner. Since then the car has been starting ok and idles ok, but the first time you pull up the car idles at about 1800 rpm before gradually settling back to normal idle, all is then ok until you drive away then stop then the same thing happens. I have had the throttle body basic settings restored but this made no difference. Can anyone help????
