rear end crash

Post by 1litreheater »

alryte guys im from thew mk 4 section but unfortunately today i was driving along came to a set of traffic lights they turned red i started to break and my wheels n brakes just locked and at about 3-4 mph i went sliding into a mk 2 (i think its a mk 2 its a g reg ) and the front of my car is fine but the bumper of the mk 2 wasnt.
I knocked a tail light off n it smashed and the bumper got crumped, resulting in the boot not being able to lock shut now. Im wondering how much this would be to repair as i would like to be in the know when the girl rings up with the quote from the garage so i know im not being didled.
is this easy to fix and have any of u guys got any of these parts ???
any information wud be of great help .
cheers !

A mark 2 came off worse in an accident?

From what you've said, you need a tail light lens, bumper reinforcer and casing (the actual plastic bit), maybe a boot lock.

You'd spend £20 in a scrap yard, but chances are, if it goes to the insurance, it'll be declared a write off.

I'd guess, for an insurance job, if you're talking new pattern parts (source Bodyshop Warehouse/GSF):

Pattern bumper casing and reinforcement £45.19
Tail lamp lens £23-ish (side dependant)
Plate lamps £5.25 each (you'll need 2 of)

+2, maybe 3, hours labour at bodyshop rates, so cost of accident, based on what you've said alone, would be £250-300
