Side Repeaters

Post by ModifiedMadness »

Also posted in MKV

I'm going to get some new side repeaters, but I'm not too sure how the old ones come off, I don't want to break them (which I would no doubt if I tried) Is there a technique to it?

Cheers

You could have just bumped your old post

But if anyone can provide advice on getting the little buggers out without breaking them, I'd be interested! Got a pair to put on myself, I just haven't gotten off my lazy arse and done it yet - it's cooold!

They're held on one side by a clip, (I think on the right). I would suggest a small screw driver, covered in some electrical tape.

if you're worried about breaking them the only real way is to remove the wing liner and unclip from behind. They have a lug on either one side or both (cant remember) that need squeezing inwards.

OK i did this mod on my mk4 polo i simply used a very small screw driver covered in tape and levered it out slowly.

The screw driver i used are the small 1s u use for electrical stuff u knw the small packs u can get different small screw drivers.

It was really easy to do am not 100% if its the same to do on the mk5..........

Fitted them earlier, took all of about 2 minutes, didn't worry about tape on the screwdriver, didn't need it. They look a lot fresher now 8)

Yeah, I was going to say I can use my hands on mine, you just need to work out which side is the spring and push towards that side gently but firmly...

Yeah, ModifiedMadness, did you get the crystal ones? Mine were the frosted ones before and the crystals make a difference. Nice!

I've got a pair of the fresher crystal ones still to go on  just haven't gotten around to it. Which way do they push to release?

I prized it out on the side nearest the door, you'll soon find out, just do it gently and it'll pop out easy as anything :D

Both are standard VW, you can order both from VW but I think the crystal ones came on later models,I thought 2001 onwards...mine is a 2000 and it had the frosted ones...
