if so, check that the condensation pipe for the a/c is going through to the engine bay properly, as it is only a short pipe, sometimes it gets wedged in the fire wall, and the condensation/water will leak back into the footwell??

Nope mines just a 1.4 CL no AC.
Cheers for the advice guys, tomorrow should be a cold but fine day, I'm gonna spend some time looking at the sill and if any leaves are blocking the drainage holes.
As it was dry and then it rained today, I checked round the door and it seems to be wet in a certain part at the bottom, so I will investigate further !
same thing is wrong with mine, if i turn on the heater water spits through. even if its off there is still condensation in the car. anyone no what i can do? whether its just a split pipe or something.
had a look under the glove compartment (removed the kickpanel underneath where the fan is) and noticed water dripping out of the actual wire (i dont know how it hasnt shorted or anything). so i proceeded to remove the whole fan unit out and unplugged it, went back into the house for a bit, came back out a few hours later and went for a drive, i could hear a sloshing noise (it was dark) so i pulled over and checked the footwell and it is drenched about and inch or so of water. the water is just coming out of the wiring bit under the glovebox. anybody got any ideas on what i should do?
check your scuttle panel isn't blocked - it has drain holes either side and if they're blocked with leaves it fills and sloshes and runs into the footwells! I had that on my golf once.
the scuttle panel is the bit underneath the wipers, at the base of the windscreen (for anyone who doesn;t know!)
open the bonnet, at the bottom of the windscreen there is a bit of plastic that runs the length of the screen.(its like a seal)
this should be very tight against the glass, lift it up at one end peel it off towards the other side (dont worry it does go back on)
You also may need to remove your windscreen wipers.
once this is off, there should be two pieces of hard plastic which overlap in the middle, take these off on the right there is an airbox/airfilter take this out and clean it(i needed to replace mine) and just next to it should be some drainage plugs clean these out with a screw driver etc.
also on the left side in about the same place.
when done rinse some water through to clear it out completely.
then re-attach your airbox etc. fit the two pieces off plastic. the plastic seal should just "clip" on then fit it all the way along.

the bit you referto as the "airbox filter thingy." is the pollen filter and should be replaced avery 6 months or year i think it is. i cant remember which it is it tells you in the haynes.
