Electric Window Kits

Post by DScape »

I'm thinking about getting an electric window kit for my dub....mainly cause I'm lazy and I get mates pulling upto me on the passenger side

The kit I'm thinking about is the one from GSF car parts. Has anyone had one of these at all ?

I have one fitted in my 6n, the kit itself took about two hours to fit, me and a friend done it, i done the donkey work he done the wiring, for the window buttons you get a panel to fit above your ashtray (see pic) that has blanks all the way across, what i done was went to a scrap yard and got one from a polo that had have the factory item- i think its a tider job.

I'd definitly recommend it :D

Btw: we couldnt get the buttons to light up when the other interior lights came on, i dont know if this was us or the kit..

its you. what you need to do is find the illumination wire from one of the illuminated switches and attatching it to the switch panel that you installed

i havent got my window kit arrive yet so ill let you know when i do fit it how to illumiate the switches

FJO - You've been more then helpful dude, cheers ! Are these hard to fit, I mean, how 'hands on' are you?

I haven't got a clue, and my mate whos a mech at VW says he don't really wanna do it cause they're a pain  Also where did you get your kit from?

Cheers :) Will probably be a new year thing now, I've just checked the bank, it's a bit empty.

The heavy work isnt that bad everything seemed to fit in with little bother, but i didnt do the wiring, so i can't comment on that!!

I got the kit from GSF car parts... 200euro over here

sory to drag a old topic up. but for the guy who fitted OEM switches if you ground pin 6 and hook up pin 4 of the switch to the illumination wire in the dash( yellow one going to the stero or it might be orange. (probe it first) )

your buttons will light up. ive just had a play around with my multimeter and 4and 6 are the only 2 pins that show resistance when the switch is not pressed and haynes confirms it.
