overheating

Post by tj »

Hi

Was driving this evening all of a sudden temperature went past 90 to 110

stopped car checked and there was no leaks.

there was like a weird hissing noise coming from the pipe from the expansion tank! probably cos it was toooo hot!

turned car off for about 10 mins then set off again it heated with a couple of mins again! was 90 when i started the car! i stopped the car again asit heated again! after a mile and checked to see if there was a leak but nothing there! put a cloth underneath to see if there was nothing pouring out but nothing!!!

what can i check tommorrow morning??

please help!

the thermostat might be stuck closed, so no water gets around the radiator.

1st thing to replace. and cheap.

that could be the problem too - but it could be linked if the fan temp sensors are in a different place to your dash reading.

when my thermostat was stuck closed, it stopped the fan from coming on. think i paid between 5-10 quid for it. its in a tricky position thou to change - well for me it was :D
