Alarm problems

Post by GavPolo »

Hey, im having problems getting into my car  . I think the alarm is out of sync as i have managed to get it back in sync before by doing what it says in the book. However this time it aint working and i cant get in the car at all. If i open it with the key the alarm is still active and the only way to de-activate it is with the button on the key which doesn't work.....any ideas?

I don't know if this will work. My remote's battery is dead so i've been having to use the key to get into the car. Try opening the car with the key, put the key in the ignition on the second stage. Have a look to see if the LED has gone out on the door. It should start then and the alarm won't go off.

Tried opening the door, putting the key in the ignition, turning it to the second stage and.....the alarm goes off and all the neighbors look at me as if im trying to steal the car  . Think ill phone the assistance out in the morning as the car is going in for a service first thing.

 I had that problem as well. I had my alarm going off all nite one day. Because my rear tailgate lock was damaged due to water coming in from the rear washer jet. Neighbours were proper pissed off with me. I couldn't even deactivate the alarm. So I left the car open in the end. Luckily no one can get into the drive. :D

Ouch, its like a 'special lock' that has a postioning element inside it, hence being more expensive than a normal lock

Vagparts should be able to get it a bit cheaper for you, or you never know, one might be on ebay, ensure same part number though if looking on ebay

hope helps

I believe the process involves removing the door car, door handle and then proceed to remove the lock part (held in by screws in end of door)

Not too bad really. Haynes manual details the process to do this - would be same for GTi

hope helps
