Squeaky Brakes

Post by mysteryboy »

My brakes squeek when I brake  duuh
The pads & discs look ok to me but what would be the most likely cause?
I usually dont hear it due to the music but today i forgot my headunit & was winding me up so I want it sorted...

Thanks!!

take off your pads and stick some copper grease where the pads contact the metal. should do the trick 8)

Copper grease.... I think my dad has some of that, remember seeing it....
Cool will give it a shot.... how hard is it to take the pads out?
Im sure once I look at it, it will be self explanitory...

It's just where a glaze buids up on the surface of the pads (all the dust and stuff)

I wouldn't let it bother you, mine do it!

Don't think copper grease would stop them squeeking, would probably just make them less effective...

As long as there's plenty of meat on them, I wouldn't worry!

LOL!

If the pads are in good nick, Try deglazing them.

AFAIK copper grease is only used to stop the grinding between the pads and the carriers. Don't use it on the friction linings themselves! :?

Any ideas if it's from the front or the back? Have you checked your brake shoes?

Just for those who didn't notice - this dude was joking.

Either go to a proper tyre and brake place, or have your bull**it detector set to maximum when you go in there.

AAAAARGH!

I see what that looks like - I meant to grease where the pad sits on and touches the carriers - not where they contact the disc! this should stop squeeking.

LOL
