As the title says... anything to look for or be aware of when looking at a potential purchase.

Make sure the pedal box re-call has been done, that's the main thing I can think of, other than that just check cosmetics, engine sounds ok, electrics (mirrors, windows, sunroof if it has one).

will the pedal box recall be down as a dealer stamp in the service book then?

Mine wasent stamped I enquired and they showed me it was done on a database.............

Check the clutch for smoothness and ease of operation. Most GTI's seem to suffer :!: Also cambelt tensioners can fail so have a good listen for rattles. and check service history for cam belt replacement :wink:
