steering wheel leather

i was looking at a polo gti review from a few years back the other day and noticed that the (new) review model's steering wheel was soft looking matt leather, mine has gone quiet shiny and harded up a bit, this the case with all of yours? anything i can put on it etc?

mines the same - seems like it mars/scratches easily too

U may laugth but as leather is a skin u can put cream on it, I use to do this with leather shoes makes it soft and supple.......

i was wondering about that, i wasnt sure if it'd do any good as it dont seem like it'd absob anything now, but will give it a go, would love a new one from vagparts but not cheap

Am sure your car is a low mileage 1 wasent it abt 30,000 miles, mines at 32,000 steering wheel is fine however some of the red thearding is fraying
