Polish Question

Hi guys, happy xmas to you all. I have a couple of questions for you:

I clean my polo often, and when I do I use meguires gold class shampoo, followed by autoglym resin polish and waxed with meguires fancy expensive wax.

Yesturday I shampoo-ed it and I noticed hundreds of tiny little tar spots all over the car. I think they were caused by the council resurfacing the road

. It got dark and too cold for me to remove them last night, but I tried autoglym polish on them and it will remove them if i scrub hard enough.

My question is this: should I try and remove the spots with my polish (takes a bit of elbow greese). OR should I use some T-Cut? Reason I ask is because I dont want to use T-Cut on my new-ish paintwork and damage it, but then again maybe scrubbing with the polish will do worse damage. Any ideas?

How about Tar-Remover which IIRC is made by Auto Glym?

I was gonna go for that option, but i thought that tar remover was pretty strong acidic stuff that is only suppost to be used sparingly on wheel arches not whole panels.

You could always try it on a bit to see how it turns out, haven't really got any experience with T-Cut so that's all I can think of.

If it's any consolation, I cleaned mine today and it's looking real nice

gotta shamois it tomorrow.

I tried t-cut today, and while it did remove some of the spots i still have hundreds of tiny black spots all over the feckin thing. Its so f**king annoying when you spend a fortune in car cleaning stuff, and hours upon hours looking after it and then some retards ruin it for you. I will try autoglym tar remover but if that fails has anyone else got ideas?

I'm gonna sue the council, my car was about 30 meters from the road they were re-surfacing.

BTW this was what i did today:

Shampoo with Meguiars gold class shampoo

Dry with microfibre cloths

Try and polish the speckles of tar off with Autoglym Resin polish (worked a tiny bit if i used lots of pressure)

Tried T-Cut on effected panels (roof and bonnet and boot) This worked a little, but not enough.

Waxed with Meguiars Canubra Wax

There is some putty that you can purchase that pulls the tar and grit off the paintwork without damaging it, it's great, leaves the body smooth like glass! There was a group buy a while back...have a look in that section.

Best product by far, that i have found is AG Tar Remover. Will eliminate any tar on the paint but will also strip polish/wax.

Nice combo you've got there too. AG Super Resign Polish is fantastic. Are yo using #16 to wax?

Clay is great and well worth the money. Just remember to keep paint well lubricated, the clay soft and fold it every now and then, also check for dirt caught in it that may cause scratches.

There is some more Industrial stuff you can get, I can't remember the name of it, but we've got a big plastic bottle of it at work for the vans. Apparently get's all that s**t off a piece of cake.

i've found tar remover to be quite good!

what i would say thought is you want a way to remove the sh!te careful without any pressure! putting pressure onto the car could cause light scratches in the paint, and u'll be forever trying to get rid of them!

Dub_envy used some of that clay stuff on a section of my car back in june, and the finish was fantastic, the paint felt like glass! the thing to remember about that stuff is it must be kept well lubricated and don't push to hard or that'll scratch as well!

i have also be advice by a couple of the lads i work with who are very presice about there cars being clean and they use this:

Zymol HD cleanse. this does the same as the clay so i am told, but is in a more liquid format!! i am yet to get any of this stuff myself and try it out so i am purely going on my friends opinions, but they sware by it! what i would say though, if you use any of these products to remove the tar, make sure the car is polished imidiately to, if u like, reseal the coat of polish on top of the paint!

That would be TFR (traffic film remover) - This also strips wax and polish in neat form.

Today i bought me some claybar and some AG intensive tar remover. Havnt had a chance to use it cause of the weather, but I will let you know how I get on.

Im using the Ag polish but the Deep Crystal Meguiars Carnauba wax. Its the stuff u get from the 3 Step system. (didn't want to buy the other 2 when AG polish is good enough).

Update.

Washed the car, used the clay bar (stuff rocks). Polished with AG super resin and waxed. The T-cut i used the previous time removed most of the spots, that and Autoglym Intensive tar remover helped lots too.

There are a few tiny little spots on there but they are so small you can barely see em.

It's totally different stuff. A Clay bar is a clay bar, and HD cleanse is a paint cleaner that also contains essential oils that help to make the paint shine more. They both will remove the old wax that is on the car, but the HD will not remove all the crud that a clay will.
