Alpine iPod controller box
Does anyone have one of these installed in their Polo? I was wondering where you installed it?
hi. i got the pioneer one in my car. its the best thing eva, for all of you out there with a working ipod (mine packed up a week after the warrenty ran out) you should get one of these. so easy to use.
i have mine in the glove box under the steering wheel and have it wired to the fag lighter. its really easy to do, and the wires can be hidden really easily.
its just a shame i dont have an ipod anymore

Alpine KCA-420i interface adaptor
not sure if that is the one you have or is it a totally different product????
I actually drilled a 1cm hole in my glovebox to feed the cable through. I'm thinking of re routing it to the glove box underneath the steering wheel as I tend to leave my glove box open at night.
The Adaptor works extremely well with CDA- 9847 head unit sounds great with JBL 6x9, JBL Sub and Amplifier. Also I have rigged my psp to play through the speakers the quality of this combination is good. My only quibble with Alpine is their bad looking But no nonsense head unit display.

Before my previous one was stolen i placed it in the glove box but i would like to install it somewhere hidden ...
Install control box behind the glovebox.
Control box was installed behind the glove box. you will need to remove the glove box first of all obviously
Once that is done just need to drill a 1 cm hole to pass cable through. Really the control box can be installed anywhere behind the glovebox.
If you are not sure how just pop into your local halfords pick up a haynes manual and away you go.
a better position to place the ipod is actually in the glovebox underneath the steering wheel. Not many cars have this compartment. Hence less likely to be stolen.
I tend to leave my glove box empty. Cheaper than a alarm on the car, and way cheaper than replacing a window of the car. Ok its a waste of space but hey, is it worth the hassle of going through replacing stuff??????

Re: Install control box behind the glovebox.
Yes, I did remove the glovebox last time but found it hard to find a suitable place. Next time round I'll take a bit longer to examine places to hide that little box! I don't want to place it inside the box as thats easy to steal.... well i should say easier to steal! I think i will also look into placing the ipod in the glovebox under the steering wheel. Pictures of fitting...... will be in place 27th dec 05
Ok then chappie.... if you can wait that long.... I will take pictures of where I have put it.... A picture explains a 1000 words i guess thats the best way to put it.
As far as i can see there is plenty of space behind the glovebox but not just that.... underneath the stereo compartment there is also a lot of space. Just find somewhere suitable for it. The unit itself is just a controller.... and a charger so it should not heat up to extreme measures.
But if you could wait till then i will get some pictures posted.
