Funny window probs

Post by zahir_213 »

Hi all, there somethin really annoying me with my car, the drivers side window doesnt always go down all the way, it seems to do it when it feels like it.
Does anyone know how i can fix this? Or if its meant to do this, why?

cheers

well you only need to recalibrate the position when the window is closed...

to do this, close you window, and litf the button (like you would do to close the window) 3 times , each times during 2 seconds....you will hear a smal clic each times....after that it should be ok...

Does your Polo have remote central locking? If so try this:
Lock the car.
Unlock the car with the key and hold the key in the unlock position for about 10 seconds. The windows should go down all the way. If the windows don't go down all the way, lock the car and try again.
Lock the car using the key with the windows down. Hold the key in the locking position and the windows should go all the way up.
If this works you should find that the windows are now synchronised and will work normally.
Hope this helps.

erm i thought that was the procedure for the confort module i.e. you can roll down the windows before you get in etc
what you described might work but on the same principal as the post by J-O

This method worked on a Skoda Octavia where the windows were out of sync. I think the Octavia may have used the same system as the Polo.

very ossibly the same electronics
the reason why it works the same as using the window button is that when you use the key to do the windows the part of the control module that controls the windows (positioning and action etc) thinks that the interior switches are being pressed
a quick over view, the control module senses the current being drawn by the motor that controls the window, when a motor stops due to an outside force it stalls and when stalled takes more current than when in movement so the module senses this and uses that as the marker position, then you operate the window in the oter direction until the moter stalls and the module remembers how long it takes (its not a timed operation but thats the easiest way to explain) when the moter has stalled there is a protection relay that you can hear click (its behind the fuse pannel)

can the interior switch roll it all the way? if not then it could be a dying regulator, if so then roll the window up with the switch and hold it there for 5 sec then all the way down and hold it for 5 sec
if that doesnt work try unhooking the batt for 5 min and retrying
