Sweet as

I'm dying to do it myself. Anyone know where to get the knob and gaiter
from (preferably at a good price)?

I kinda like the old ones. Best off buying a new one if you want one in good condition

I changed my gearknob within DAYS of getting my Polo. The old gearknob was horrible to touch, and a real pain to change gear with.

So bought a new Mk4 Golf gearstick from my local VW (£47) took a day for them to order it in (part #: IJO711113AE74). I popped off the old gaitor and pulled up until I got both the old gator and gearknob off:

Slotted the new one on. Stretched gaitor around the plastic bay bit and that was it. A 3 minute job MAX!

the ones from the 6n2 and mk4 golf look the same but the golf one has a bigger gaiter, whic means its big enough for when you engage fifth or reverse, ive heard that the 6n2 gaiter comes off when doing this, i only paind £15 for mine, should be able ot pick up one from a scrappy for cheap! as i said tho its a nice little mod!

Oops, I forgot to mention that in the post. Yeah, I tightened the gold metal clip with a pair of pliars!

Have any of you modded the rest of your cabin? I'm tempted to see what I can do to my clocks/instrument panel but a little scared incase I f**k it up. Looking to buy some spare clocks from the scrappy or online For Sale sections.
