Did you get it from a Dealer or was it private, also is it under warranty do you know?

Hmm, not sure in that case mate, there's members on here who will no doubt be able to point you in the right direction though.

But welcome to the Dub Club anyway, how are you finding it?

I have been told I dont know if this is an old wifes tail, however you should never leave the switch on neutral in the middle.

It should be left on the right or left positions, reason for this is that if left in the middle it tends to burn out the fuse. ( I think it was fuse or some other part)

So I would check the fuse first, this was told to me from a Mk4 Golf GTi owner, so maybe the problem may be posted on a Golf forum.

"O & welcome to the Club mate"

I leave mine in the middle when it's not in use, I thought that was where it should be, because in theory it's redundant in that position.

I dont know if what I have been told is fact, but since being told (by a good mate) I never leave it in the middle.

Hopefully some1 here can gives us the correct info.....

I always leave mine on either left or right as centre position is heated and i dont want to burn the fuse out leaving it on for hours.

Never knew that! Apart from when I have made adjustments to my mirrors, mine has been in the central "neutral" position since I bought the car over two years ago

The first thing I'm gonna do when I next go out to the car is move the switch to the driver's mirror position

i dont think that applies to our gti's, the 9n has got a heated symbol in the neutral position, we don't, i was under the impression our heated mirrors came on when we turned the rear heated windscreen on
