Yep, the ABS light on the dash came on this evening!
No hacking or anything, just reversing out of drive & it came on.
Anyone had this?
How is it solved? Dont fancy going to a dealer=££££
May just try disconnectin the battery for a bit & see if it comes on afterwards.
ABS Light
Re: ABS Light
The light came on for a reason, if I were you I would take it to VW, if not get some1 with a cable and vag software to see what the problem is.cjwardy wrote:Yep, the ABS light on the dash came on this evening!

I wouldnt ignore it for obvious reason..
This happens to me alot if someone is sitting in the passenger rear seat, strange I know but there is an abs wire under the seat. When this happens to me the ABS is not effected, its just a bit annoying. All I do is lift up the rear bench and disconnect and reconnect the little plug once i've turned the keys in the ignition to bring on the light, but not yet started the engine, after less than about 50 metres the light should have dissapeared, if not try it again. The first time this happened I took the car to VW and they replaced a faulty ABS sensor I was told, although the light came on straight away afterwards so i'm guessing they just disconnected and reconnected the plug the same as I do now
Mine came on some time back when I had a full compliment of passengers one evening. Once I had dropped the last passenger off, I turned the car off, restarted and same as Prash, when I got about 50 metres down the road, the light went out. The previous day I'd had the seats down carrying a large load... maybe I tripped something? But since then, no random ABS lights on my dash!
assuming its same system as mk4?Si_GTi wrote:Mine came on some time back when I had a full compliment of passengers one evening. they seem to come on at random, just needs to be reset
the abs self checks at speed of 16km/h
Again, I have seen this twice and both times all I needed to do was ensure the sensor was plugged in correctly under the back seat.
Lift up the bench part and you will see two rubber gromets either side with a wire to each. there is a connector for each, just unplug and reconnect, make sure it clicks. You can secure them with three tie-wraps, or just remember to check.
Make sure you check this before you do anything else!
