Thats a good price. I got quoted about £140 odd inc vat from GSF but i wasn't happy about the amount of questions he was asking about what engine i had, think he was unsure about the pump

I think i paid closer to £160 for mine but it was from my local vw stealer, it was closer and he knew the car and which bits to order as soon as i asked.

It was actually less than that cos the water pump was on an exchange basis so i got £15 back. 8)

I'm dead picky when it comes to things like parts, gotta be spot on.

How did you get it done under warranty? Did it break?

hmm i'm getting the feeling that water pump failure might be quite common if it's a service item?

I know! In some respects it was quite fortunate, what happened to the car. Basically the cambelt tensoiner failed, so in order to fix that VW had to replace the whole shooting match, both toothed belts, tensioner, water pump and the various bits and pieces that go with it all.

Lucky boy eh? 8)

How much can I expect to pay for the 60k service then, is the cambelt part of that or is it seperate?

Or will I need my trousers with deep pockets on and a pot of Vaseline?
