never been legal, but apparently police are gonna start cracking down on them and handing out £60 fines, sounds like cop cars are gonna start having number plate recognition and they're gonna stop anyone that has abnormalities...not trying to rain on anyone's parade but just thought i'd warn people about it.

funnily enough, fitted some german plates i bought to my mk3 golf today. Look 100 times better than the faded cracked ones that were on it. Best keep the old ones i say, then if theres hastle you can easily swop them back (i carry my uk ones in the boot of my G)

I might move to Germany and use UK style plates hehe i'll be uber cool...

I don't see the problem with them really, it's just another get rich quick scheme from the gatso boys...

I think they are easier to read than most cracked faded J reg number plates i've seen on MK3 polos!

the reason behind it all is that roadside speed cameras cannot process the stadt stickers on german plates and thus they come up as foreign plates regardless of colour/GB badging.
you can see their point abit though, i bet no one on here with german style plates has been issued a fine from being flashed by a gatso (and believe you me alot of people are aware of this and drive past speed cameras at silly speeds because they know at the end of the day they are getting away scott-free.
Again if it stops twats speeding then i don't see the problem, but am dissapointed it has come to this :( i liked my german plates

That's what the copper said when I got pulled, they weren't german plates but the style was illegal (straightened 7 and altered the spacing) he said it does look good but unfortunately it is illegal. He said that a lot of people do it as a way of getting away with car crime, so you can see their point, it's just a shame other people spoil it for us.
