Fuel Filter

Has anyone changed their fuel filter? Did you have to depressurise the fuel system first, i.e. take out a fuse and crank over the engine to remove pressure from the line?

(yes I know I should buy a haynes manual!)

well assuming that vw changed the fuel filter at 40k, this is what 37k miles-worth looks like...

Not sure how much of this is crud from the fuel tank or from the petrol itself though.

(and no, its didn't fall apart by itself!)
