TV Adverts (Sort it out!!)
Right Im gonna have a moan and might come across bad to some...
WTF is up with all these discusting tv adverts lately? They always seem to come on when im eating....
Just now it was showing disabled little children (yes it bad i know and they do need help) but its not a pretty sight...
That advert was followed by an oxfam? advert i believe showing african kids with runny nose's and flies around them....
Yesterday it was showing some fat people who are extremely obese (sp?) with all sorts of spots and what not over them
I just think these adverts should come with a warning so it gives people time to look away...

the shock factor doesnt really affect me as ive seen much worse things... Its just the fact that i always seem to be eating when they come on and am being forced to changed the channel..
@ Dino... so true about the volume... and the so called fitness dvds coming out... Jade bought 1 out & look at the state of her... them dvds are a complete waste

I suppose to a degree they have to, to get their message out. They'd have to advertise elsewhere if not on tele. Whether or not they get special rates I don't know.
Although, I'm half in agreement with you, people already know what's going on, so why can't they show the ones that HAVE been helped and say about donating money so more can be fortunate enough to have a half decent standard of living.

I don't think it can be disputed that people are aware of what's going on.
But adverts that concentrate solely on the 'after' ie the results from the charity's contribution are not going to generate anywhere near as much awareness as those which include images of the people who are suffering.
For example, an ad which say, showed a formerly-abused kid living happily with his family, with a narrator telling you about the kid's ordeal isn't really going to attract your attention, and ultimately your support or donation.
However, an ad like those used by the nspcc last year.. which showed a kid getting shouted at... then the kid's replaced by a dummy... which falls down the stairs or something like that, WILL grab your attention. And even if you don't then donate, the ad has still succeeded in raising awareness.
Perhaps a combination of both is most effective. It'd probably go part way to explaining why schemes such as Comic Relief and Children in Need are so successful (not ignoring all the big name endorsements etc)

It was a moan about tv adverts.... & theres no need to detrack any attention its all there clearly for other to see... you just seem to focus on the part i mentioned about charities a bit too much... end of the day i think theres too many sick adverts and charity ones being one of them... if u dont like what i say i done give a sh!t.....
