what are the symptoms of a not very good clutch

anyone technically minded want to tell me what 'symptoms' i might be getting if the new clutch installed in my gti last august wasnt very good or not installed properly.

am just having a few niggly problems so would like to work out what it is

Not sure if this answers your question but if you have a noticable judder when you pull away with revs then that would suggest your clutch isn't bite-ing correctly....

i get a slight creak at the bottom travel of the clutch pedal after driving for a while, sometimes it never happens, sometimes it does

I have exactly the same problem, after maybe 50 miles or an hour or so of driving, the clutch pedal creaks at the same spot. No idea whatsoever what it is, but it has had no ill effects on the car or the way it drives in any way? Just really strange creaking!

My mate came down with my old mk4 polo, last night took it for a spin almost put the clutch thru the floor.

I didnt realise how hard the GTi clutch is compared to me old car. There is quite a bit of difference.

I think up gonna get sach clutch soon............

I had the clutch changed twice while i was driving my dads car...

Basically it gets harder and the biting point is higher up....
So.. if you've noticed its not pulling away as good as it used to means its worn a bit but doesnt mean it needs changing
(also the revs seem to be higher somewhat with a worn clutch or is this nothing to do with the clutch?)

If you do get it changed -- make sure you get it done at a proper garage that can offer some sort of warranty on their work (I done mine at a merc garage and it was gone in 6 months and the only way to sort it was through court)

I hear good things about Sachs clutches.

My clutch doesn't make any noise, BUT its feckin hard to depress and it doesn't bite till the end of travel, very easy to stall.

well mine can judder when pulling away, not sure whats causing it, it doesnt seem to struggle on hills etc, or if i put the handbrake on and try to drive away it doesnt seem to slip,changing gears is ok too, so not sure if the clutch has gone or not
