indicators not working...help!

Post by M1 TCH »

hi guys

my problem is that my indicators wont work.....

my hazzard lights work, and the car makes that buzzing noise it does when you open the door and leave the stalk up or down, ut my indicators just dont work when im driving. dosent even tick behind dash.

has anyone had the same prob?

what is the prob?

thanks guys

p.s... ive checked fuses, stalk and wiring...

hmmm I had this prob a few months back... the bulb has them 2 little bits poking out (if u get me) and it wouldn't go into the slot in the bulb holder after i forced it in, it worked fine...

Check the fuses under the drivers side glovebox. Im quite sure its that. When you indicate do you get a electricy click, sounding like a dodgy connection?

i meant did u get that kind of electricy noise before it stopped working. If so its the indicator stalk, i had this problem on my old MK4. But it kept blowing the fuses too

i got the clicky noise before it wasnt working but thats normal isnt it?

the click you get when you signal left or right?

ive checked the stalk, that buzzes when you open the door, so i dont think it could be that....

hmm, yeah i dont mean the normal click noise. its sometimes before the actual click u get a electricy sounding noise, like a dodgy connection/sparking going off...bit hard to describe

I think mine was buzzing though when the ignition is off and door is open as it then switches i think to control the headlight of the side u indicated too

hmmmmmmmm

i have checked wires though..... im sure i havent pulled anything out when i put dash back in today, and im sure they were working after i put the dash back in.....

just spoke to my locall vw mechanic, he said the hazzard and indicators have separate relays, he reakons it is the realay, so im off to halfrauds now at a cost of 9 quid....

i'll let you all know how i get on...

thanks guys

sorry to hear that dude. It still suspect the stalk. Its not the wiring that would be a problem though, its just the indicator stalk itself. I had mine replaced by VW though.
