Hi,
The radio reception quality in our Polo is dire. It used to be great, then got gradually get worse and worse. Now the only 2 FM stations it can barely tune into is Classic FM and Radio1.
Don't think it's the VW stereo, as the same thing happens when I connect a different head unit to the Polo. Also tried a replacement aerial mast, no joy.
The aerial connector looks fine, so, what I want to know is, do any of you know the route of the aerial cable from the dash to the roof? Is is easy to remove the felt if I was to replace the whole aerial cable?
Any help would be much appreaciated.
Radio reception / aerial

Is it a standard VW aerial? aftermarket ones are never quite as good.
I believe the aerial cable goes up the nearside A-pillar and along the roof to the aerial.
I think you'd have to pull the headlining in the boot down a little (careful!)to see the base of the aerial mast. This also involves removing some plastic trim first. Check the connection for corrosion too, just in case the roof seal has let in a little water.
hope thats of some use

vw head units have built in amplifiers.
If you have installed an after market head unit then you will require a booster which simply plugs in line with ur aerial cable in the back of the head unit.
Usually made by a company called autoleads and can be bought from Halfrauds!
£13.99 i think for VW polo.
Hope this helps.
