Newbie with a MK2

Post by Jim1500 »

Just joined the forum and thought I'd fire up a few pics of my 1990 MK2
It was my mums since 1993 and then I bought it about 4 years ago, so basically I've been driving it for the last 10 years almost!
Just hit 100K during the week.
It has clear side indicators too now

a lovely example of a mk2 you have there!

got any plans for her? a reckon a nice set of VW wheels would set her off just fine! 8)

Thanks :D
I've basically done everything that I'm going too, wanted to keep it subtle.
Was considering black revolutions, but reckon the standard wheels and embellishers look spot on.
Might go for a LHD rear light so both have reversing lights and then red out the indacator or something.

yeah that'll set the rear off nicely! no one seems to do aftermarket rear lights for the mk3 apart from those half clear ones which i don't personally like!

those front indicators are nice, where did you get them? i would say they were kind of smoked, but i'm not sure.

Thanks for the comments guys. The lenses are clear, but I have them sitting in a bit further than they should be so they look a bit darker.
The front ones I got second hand but they were unused if that makes sense. I've seen them for about £12 or £15 plus postage, although my brother bought a set for me the exact same and paid almost £20! Think he has them in the box in the house. If you like I'll see does he want to part with them.

The clear side ones (fitted after the pic) were £14 or £15 from Halfords, they're decent quality German ones

Know what you mean! I wanted to put clear indicators (and the black wheel with chrome rim) on mine for the last 10 years and only got round to doing it a couple of monthes ago!
I'll check with him when I see him tomorrow.
PM me and let me know how much ya reckon. They come with a separate piece of orange perspex that you put in so you don't need orange bulbs
