if i bought 40 mm lowering springs but keep the same shocks do you think it will be ok

Nah, get some uprated shocks too. It's only so long before you standard ones pack in. Handling will be pish too

u can get a good shock and spring kit off ebay for Â£150

defo change the shocks! i ran the old shocks with my lowering springs on my old mk3, it handled rubbish and was very lump on the front end! going to be changing them over for some new shocks very soon!
