eugh!

raising music tastes on here - probably not wise.

espcially when you've asked about funky house.

I'm fairly open to all sorts of music; really I am.

But

FUNKY HOUSE IS JUST A MADE UP NONSENSE GENRE ;-)

well come on

its just house music - its in no way funkier than regular house music.

Have you had a look at the Hed Kandi series, I'm streaming "The Mix 2006 (Cd 1 - Disco Heaven Mix)" from allofmp3 at the moment, its pretty good IMO. Will probably download it later on tonight and have it in the car for the forseeable :)

My girlfriend worked in the Atlas Bar in Manchester for a bit; you know the kinda "trendy" bar where people go when they think they're something special to try and impress other people who are also faking being special - where they charge £3.20 a pint when many places in Manchester charge £2.20.

And there house DJs are always playing "Funky House".

It is just house music.

(also its drivel, but thats my personal opinion rather than an actual attempt at an un-biased assessment)

Into the realms of personal opinion theres a few music genres I just dont get.

- Gangsta rap (just seems like commercialised crap to me, aimed at making white kids think they're from south central)
- RnB (I just dont get it)
- Blues (bores me)
- Soul (bores me)
- Jazz (the musicians are having more fun than the listeners - who are having none)
- (lots of) reggae (another one where i go, just dont get it)

OK so my real quarm about Funky House is that from my observations of it, people who like it dont really like music at all. They need musak. Just something on in the background.

Where as for me, music is something to get passionate about.

Now I'm not saying I'm right. Infact probably the contrary. You people who like Funky House probably have better things to do with your selves (which I'm quite open to beliving...)

Its good driving music. I tend to have a good mix of different genres and artists depending on what kind of mood I'm in and whether or not I have any passengers with me.

I forgot "minimalist techno" - this I really dont understand

My boss had some on and was like "isnt this tune bangin?"

and I was like "no, its just a repeating drum loop, there is no tune"

"nah man this is the way music is supposed to be, bangin"

"this ISNT music, there is no tune, no melody and no variation - it is just a repeating drum loop"

(none of that is applicable to [s]funky[s] house - it is, at least, quite musical at times)

For me just listening to music is an act in itself. I dont watch much tv, but I will just sit and listen to music (in a dark room with the windows open and in a comfortable chair).

I know for some people, the need for music isnt such a priority as it is for me - and I think thats where the distinction between saddos like me and saddos like people who like funky house are.

NB: we're all saddos. face it. we are.
