new vw jetta

Post by DanDiesel »

went to the vw dealers 2day to pick up something for me bros g40 and sat in the back of the dealers still in protective wrapping etc was a new jetta! "very few of them in the country" said the salesman!
this one had a chrome r32 style grill and 16" alloys and it was the 1.9 tdi 105ps!
looked lovely in platinum grey, and when i asked if i could have a little look they said yeah by all means!
they opened it up for me (nothing like a new car smell), obviously its just like the golf inside and the only real difference between the 2 is the enormous boot!! its huge!!!! me and 6ft 5 doug could both get in there!! (no we didn't try :) )
there are 5 engines available on release- 1.6 (115ps), 2.0 fsi (150ps), and 2.0t fsi (200ps) petrols, and 1.9 tdi (105ps) and 2.0 tdi (140ps) diesels.

vw are hoping it will sell very well as it shares the new golfs looks and handling capabilities!
in the usa, the jetta (previously vento and bora) has made up 40% of the family saloon sales! lets hope this continues over here!!

Compared to the outgoing Bora, it's huuuge! Not much smaller than the old Passat, I think there is a scant few millimetres in it. Nice spot Dan!

when u get up close to it Si, its not that much bigger than the bora, or at least thats wot it felt like! when i saw the chrome grill, i thought it could be a new r32! but i was just as pleased to see the jetta, knowing that its not even out yet!!

i think it looks fantastic
i've seen the new Passats about and i love the rear light setup (sort of two ferrari rear lights brought closer and slightly over-lapped) is the Jetta rear end the same?

I'm *seriously* interested in the Jetta, so much so that:

Just need to sort out the money and I'm there...

(Maybe )

Deek.

BTW, I went there to ask about the Polo GTI as well - also not coming until April - and the guy showed me this completely independently of your post (great minds and all that...))

In fact, I'm so keen on this thing, that I played about with those images in photoshop last night, and it looks great with the horizontal chrome slats blacked out and the rest of the chrome left. That, in steel grey or shadow blue with Monza 2s on it and you're there. You're also looking at £19.5k by that time, though...

Deek.
