They are different. The G40 manifold has a bracket for the charger on it, it also has a slightly bigger bore too. The G40 downpipe has a slightly larger bore as does the exhaust system.

A few people have put G40 exhaust manifolds & systems on a GT before, should see some gains. The only problem is they aint cheap to buy new.

Engine codes:

GT- 3F
G40- PY

so basically, i need an exhaust.

i plan in the near future to start looking for a g40 engine.

when i get said engine my new de-cat downpipe will be useless..

i dont know what to do.

sod it. i'll just buy the stainless zorst, and then i'll have to sell it when i get the g40. i'm sure that a complete GT engine, de-cat, and stainless exhaust will be pretty easy to sell.....

What exhaust are you thinking of getting ? If you get a custom, ask them to use 2" or 2 1/4" tubing for the system, which they will probably do anyway. That would be fine on a G too.

The systems can be swapped between the two, G40 system will fit GT and visa versa. You wouldnt need to sell it.

G40 back box +Mid section are the same as a GT (Unless the GT I broke fo rmy MK2 conversion had a G40 exhaust) However manifolds and downpipes with cat are different the 2 down pipe bits are a lot bigger bore. My centre section broke on my G and I was able to use the one I had in my garage from the GT as a straight swap. The G40 was quite restricted by VAG and a noticable power gain is acheived with a performance exhaust.

The downpipe to centre section join is pretty much the same for the GT and G40 in diameter. I think the difference in bore is at the manifold end where its two pipes.

I want to order one from that company at the Polo Show.. But I can't find their flyer, and can't remember their web address... I have searched on the net, but cant seem to find them... I think it was something like www.performanceexhausts.com ????? not too sure on the make now either, but am sure it was Motec...

Oh well... I want a full stainless system, with no middle silencer and a boxer (letterbox) style tip..

I think that should look and sound ok..
