1.4 Polo Match?

Post by lilpee123 »

Right i have a 1.4 Polo Match (2000) it says MPi on the engine. And was wondering what that means in terms of the car? Ment to get any extras being a match? or the mpi bit?

Thanks for any information in advance

MPI? I'm going to go with Multi-Point Injection on that one, in laymans terms a more economical method of delivering the fuel.. I think.

As for the Match, I think that the specs varied a bit during the production run but you should have A/C, maybe electric windows and some funky cloth trim (like red centres on black seats for example). Leather-trimmed steering wheel and gearknob? Maybe foglights?

Do you have any pictures? 8)

Aye I have a match

Stuff Ive got

Colour coded front grille (not anymore but it did)
Funky Seat Trim (Red and Black)
Electric Windows
Electric Mirrors
Leather Gearknob and wheel

I dont have A/C or climate control tho, didnt know that was an option... bummer :( I didnt get fogs either but mine are coming next week from vag parts as all the stuff is there for them... they must be an option too

As for MPI.. yes that means Multi Point Injection but it doesnt really make it any faster... still only 60Bhp

Edit: Apparently the match is a "special" edition too... not that special if you ask me but hey

yeah thats what i was thinking, i dont think my polo has anything more special than any other polo 6n2. I dont really have funky seats!?! not that im aware of anyway. I have electrics windows/mirrors/roof but no a/c. I always thought the match was something really special because i believe the 1.4 golf match has all the characteristics (spelling) of a golf gti.

*edit: no fogs either. How much did yours cost from VAG?*

the Match had AC as standard, sure your car is a match? (MATCH badge on boot?)

i've got the brochure somewhere, detailing the spec, will post standard items when I find it :)

Found the sales leaflet - its dated 2001 - so maybe the manual AC became standard in this year on-wards? i.e. not for year 2000 cars?

:?
