MOT time..

Post by dub envy »

failed.

bugger.

rear wheel bearings, and headlights were too high. Also said my front brake pads were very low.

Bought some beaings and pads from ECP and will prolly fit them tomorrow. Need to get it done by the weekend as my MOT ran out yesterday.

Nothing too serious. The mot place should adjust the headlamps for you once the other bits are fixed.

My drivers side headlight was too low, so the MOT guy adjusted it there and then for me (for free).

Hope you get the rest of it sorted out before the weekend.

if you were in west yrks id suggest a place where i used to work doing mot`s but it could be a bit far lol
and unless the headlights are siezed they will prolly adjusrt them for ya but dont get mad if they dont as they are not obliged to do so

my old polo failed its MOT on the head lights and the emissions level, all it took to change that was a couple of screws, took about 5 mins and cost me a bit! i hade recently changed my headlights to H4 glass, tried to adjust them to the origional line but obviously didn't do so well.

the reason the mixture was up was because in the winter it liked cutting out for no apartent reason, usually when reversing, weird :?

awwww isn't she cute! had big ideas for her but then my latest car came up for £100! can't complain for that!

so.......... i change the rear wheel bearings...... not too difficult.. and decided to leave the front pads as they still have a fair bit of life in them..

Took the car for a road test, and it sounds like my exhaust manifold is blowing.... again.

I only changed the gasket last week. I think the head may need machining. So tomorrow, I have to get another exhaust gasket and fix that, ad get the car mot'd friday morning before I go to my cousins wedding......

I really hope I can pass the mot, cos I am running out of time with the free re-test.

Also, no MOT, no Polo Show.

Is it the manifold to head gasked or the downpipe to manifold gasket ?

Any of the studs broken, and are the surfaces clean of old rust & gasket traces ?

odd. the ticking noise stopped... so i havent changed the gasket. took the car back today with its new wheel bearings and asked if they would do the headlamps for me...

bastards wanted £6 to re-align them!!! It's a 20 second job!! Thats £1000 per hour!!!!

so i took the car away, adjusted them, took it back and they were too low... kinda had a row with the tester about it, took it away again (well drove it down the road) adjusted them up slightly, and when i went back they were spot on!!!

Wheel bearings were fine, headlamps all good!!

I am now the pround owner of a £40 piece of paper.

Thats what I thought it would be, will need to get them replaced or something.

They sound bad... are they making things worse or doing any damage?
