Bassically, as some of you know a couple of days ago I found this on ebay and I planned to import it from Hamburg to have a nice rare little runaround 8)

Now, looking at the pictures you would think the damage ain't that bad. Well, I thought I'd better ask anyway and I got these back...

I have a N/S head light for it so the cops shouldn't moan when you bring it back ;)

Did have a grille too but mum binned it.

I'm sure that can be fixed, try and get hold of a bonnet and light from a scrappy and you should be laughing :)

I was going to buy it (despite the ever increasing amount of faults) but I then noticed it had done 166,000 miles :shock: I left my phone number for the owner but he hasn't got back to me yet anyway. I don't think thats the one for me :?

Now looking at a Red Coupe in Cumbria! (and I live in Ipswich!)

Well, after much thinking and a good nights sleep I've now decided to forget about this one...

http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... gory=15328

I've been having a few words with people from Porka and here (thanks everyone :) but with a little help from Beavis (who imported the G40 Genesis) heres what we estimate costs to be...

Flight to Munich: £60
Car: £500
4 tanks of petrol home: £120
1 nights hotel accomadation: £35-40
Ferry Cailais to Dover: £60
Food and other consumables: around £20 i suppose

£25 to register the Car onto a UK plate. For this I will need;
Two new headlamps
German Certificate of Conformity
Insurance documents (£1200 for the years insurance)

Tax on the ACTUAL car £87.50

Tax disc: £110
MOT: £34

Faults with car:
New head gasket and head skim
Steering pulls to the left
Rust on tailgate
Poor gear selection/crunching after 1 hours worth of driving (possible gearbox fluid top up)

Estimated total cost: £1057 :shock:

That total cost doesn't include what price it is to fix the above faults :(
It's a really nice car, but I can't really justify paying MORE than a UK car just because its in a nice rare purple colour.

Options now being considered;
MK3 Saloon 1.3 55bhp (then turn it into a GT :P )
MK3 GT (fat chance of finding one of those at the moment!)

I'm going to the local car auctions on Thursday night to see whats about, hopefully I'll come back with something :)

All the best laid plans.... etc :cry:
