Hi guys,

Im new to the site so just thought id say hello.

Im currently in the process of selling my fabia vRS and i want to buy a polo. either the MK5 or the brand new one. Im downsizing to a 1.4 SE but i have some big plans on the way i hope youll all help me with.

I do have a quick query first.

Is there any difference between the SE's bumpers, side skirts etc to the GTi's???

Cheers

Welcome.

Right, differences between the SE and GTi.

Essentially the body panels are pretty much the same, it's only detail stuff that sets them apart. The biggest structural difference is that the GTi (and 16v model I believe) have side skirts which form the sill itself ie. not just a bolt on extra.

Other than that they're pretty much similar, other than that the GTi has a honeycomb mesh to the front lower and upper grilles. Also it has a deeper front splitter than the regular models.

and.....
the Gti has a rear hatch spoiler with the integrated brake-light as opposed to lower models (8v and 16v) where the brake-light is set within the bodywork.

Welcome :)

Everything is pretty much the same, apart from what has been said above oh and of course - smaller engine hehe

No xenon lights on 16v SE - so no headlight washers, else front bumper is same, except honeycomb grilles

Sideskirts are same

1) Afraid not, the sideskirts are part of the actual car as said above, so cannot be fitted.

2) Yes you can get the splitter on it, either from VAG Parts, they have a section on the forum or direct from VW, pricewise it may work out near enough the same after the postage cost from VAG Parts, whereas you can collect it from the dealer.

Hope that helps

And welcome to the forum.
