I planning on doing my cambelt n tensioner when iv got a couple of days of work. Iv purchased the kit (£38, not bad), but was just wondering has anyone got any pointers or things to look out for when doing it? maybe from personal experience. its a 1.4 8v.
Iv think iv got to drop the engine to get at it properly!?
I will be taking pics as i go along, may be post em up when im done.
Any help appreciated.

The cambelts on these engines are easy enough to do the best way to go is get a bit of wood on a jack under ur sump and take the weight of your engine and remove the o/s engine mount and wheel, take off the top cam cover and time your engine up (Tip put white paint on timing marks)
then remove the bottom pully if you dont have an impact gun you'll need an assitant to help get a long breaker bar and a 19mm 12 point socket, person in the car must stand on the brakes and have it in 5th gear the bolt should come off easy if the belt been done before.
the pulley should come off but if the belts not been done b4 the crank pulley might b sized to it
other than that tensoner off swap belt and goes back the same way hope this helps you.
PS when the belps off check your water pump for play and signs of water and stains as long as your belt drives the pump.
