hi does anyone know if the ecu on the 1.4tdi had some kind of safety cut out to stop you killing the turbo when its new.
as when i first got my car if you drove and rev'd past 3,000 rpm power starts to die as the turbo cuts out.
but now passed 31,000 miles the power band goes all the way to 4,000 revs
my polo just got better
some thing happend at 31,000k

Could be your MAF. Try disconnecting it to see if there is any difference
If you can find anyone near you with VAG-Com, they could verify this. If the car still has any sort of guarantee outstanding, then your local dealer would be able to do this too.
When the MAF fails (or starts to fail), it doesn't tell the ECU the right amount of air is getting in through the air intake, and reduces the boost you get too.
Whereabouts are you?
