New Engine For ME!!!

Post by danny_boy »

helo ppl, basically i got my 6n2 from the main VW dealer in norwich a few months ago and it had a slight knock which i noticed wen it was ticking over, someone told me this was piston slap and apparently its a common fault with the polos. i took it back and with a bit of an arguement ive managed to get them to fit a whole new engine!
does anybody know much much this would cost if i had paid for it to be done? including the engine and about 2 or 3 days labour?

Once the dials died in my uncles mk4 golf gti, they had to order new dash dials in from germany, my uncle tried his luck by giving them the part numbers for the bora dials.

And u guessed it they orderd and fitted them under warrentee 8)

Sneaky.. Yet clever... But they might aswell do it especially if the cost is pretty much the same.

Also Danny Boy- does the new engine mean your mileage will be zero? That'll be really handy when it comes to selling the car

well i paid 4500 for the car which is alot anyway since its a W reg polo s (1.4 8v) it had about 58,000 on the clock wen i brought it about 3 months ago. yes the new engine will have 0 miles but the clocks wont be reset so it will still display about 60,000 miles.
do u think the value of the car will go up when i come to sell it in about a years time?

Doubt it'll have much affect on the value tbh

But at least it'll be less likely to go wrong :P

probably..

Depends really

Quality's obviously better but there's more to go wrong!

But at least the new ones have warranties, which are pretty handy aren't they Danny

My GTi is my third VW, my 1st car was mk2 golf had abt 130,000 on the clock, when I got her had her for 2yrs NOT 1 problem and I ragged it....

My Mk4 polo needed a new clutch and the gear box f-up.

My Polo GTi so far hasent given me any problems, but reading some stories on here i wonder how long that will last.

I do think the older Vdubs are more reliabe and better made, maybe all the gizmos we have nowadays means more can go wrong.
