air bag

Post by steph722 »

could somebody tell me how to turn the air bag off in my car? am 7 month pregnant and not supposed to drive with it on as if it went off it could kill the baby, hasn't been a problem so far as my partner has been giving me lifts to places but as were moving house on wednesday I need to move my car to the new house and want to turn the air bag off just to be safe.

You have to go back to the dealers and they plug it in to a computer and turn it off.

Sorry love I think Andy is right on this, you have to specifically get a dealership to do it because as a core safety feature of the car, its not something that should be easily deactivated! If you need to, you can have the passenger airbag deactivated too at the same time as the driver's one.

Welcome t'forum by the way :D

that sucks! I've been told by the midwife not to drive a car with an air bag or if it has to get it disabelled, I'd have to drive it to the garage to get that done, I suppose I could drive my partners car, but I dont really like driving his corsa, its gutless and with everything hes done to it it dosent go over speed bumps without scraping and its far too loud! I'll just drive it with it on and be extra carefull. thanks for the help and the welcome :)
