help with alloy wheel bolts
yer true, i called vw the other day and found out they're around £12 each. so then i heard about mcgard locking nuts which are probably the same thing anyways (and highly recommended) and i think they're cheaper (although not sure what ones to buy) but only problem is im not sure whether they need to be a special type to fit the vw OE alloys - being a particluar size and all that...with or without tapered head etc...inder wrote:You'd prob need to buy a set of vw locking nuts from the dealer also though, to replace on of the normal bolts one each alloy wheel, for security
so maybe i will have to dig in my pockets and get the vw ones..? least i know they would be the right ones and fit the OE alloys-
you can get the mcgard one's to fit, ive got them on my alloys. they are better, as the key for them is a unique shape and cannot be undone without the key
I can give you the mcgard part number i used if you want? so you can get them off ebay or from halfords as they stock them
only thing is, the black cover cap from vw won't stay on them, falls off

yer - if you could tell me the part number that would be great. I read on some other forum that someone fitted the wrong mcgard bolts (they were longer) and caused a fair bit of damage....oopsinder wrote:you can get the mcgard one's to fit, ive got them on my alloys. they are better, as the key for them is a unique shape and cannot be undone without the key

as for the black cover cap, dont they do a smaller cover cap specifically for the locking bolt? maybe the other one kept falling off cos it was for a normal bolt? theres some of these on ebay at the moment...
