Bearing shells for AEX

Newbie here, but active elsewhere in the Audi quattro world.

I've got low oil pressure on an AEX engine and the principal suspect is the bottom end, so I'd like to change the shells. VW want GBP25 a set for the mains -I've tried an independent (Pete Reeve at Quattro Corner) but he tells me there are two types. Can anyone help - I've done my best with the local search but to no avail.
