which way does the crankshalf bolt turn to lossen it? anti-clockwise or clockwise. I can't seem to bung it, its bein a bugger

The bolt turns anti-clockwise as you would expect, but it's extremely tight. You need to stop the crank turning by wedging a block of wood against it inside the block. A long breaker bar is also needed.

A new bolt should be used when re-assembling.

finally got that bugger to come off, had to use both hands on the rachet to manage to make it move. damn hard work. my cams off now. going to spend the night cleaning it i think
