FAO Ben(Polopowah)/ Anyone with a mk5 :/

Post by Alex_6n2 »

Just got my car back from the garage where Ive had my new gearbox fitted. I fetched it myself from a breakers and it supposed to be from a 1.4 but its got much shorter ratios than my old box

70mph with my original was 3000Rpm but now its 4K

Is this the same as your 1.0ls?

Just want to make sure :)

aye cheers

Its nothing bad, just wanted to know. Kind of annoying it being more noisey with the extra revs at 70 but i never go stupidly fast most of the time so my top end doesnt bother me

The extra acceleration is fun tho :) Need some grippier rubber now :(

Aye its all sorted now

I wouldve come to the meet and show you lot but I couldnt make it

Shes got standard bumpers all round now, kamei front grille, smooth Gti front bumper with all the GTi lower bits inc fogs, smoked side repeaters, twin exhaust, Brock b2 super cups and a Gti front splitter

Just need some coilovers now and to get my rear bumper smoothed

Mine is a 1.4 16V and it revs at just over 3000 at 70. So that seems a bit confusing.

No. It revs to 6K, then has a software determined 'soft-cut' to prevent it going beyond 6.2k

Same Gearbox as my old one then.. which seems right as my 8v doesnt have the muscle to get right to the top with that box
