recent;y got a MKIII polo coupe for my mum, but even though i have tried and tried i cannot get her to bloody well make sure that shes tured off the indicators when she parks so that her parking light doesn't come on!!!!!
So after forgetting for like 10 times (luckily her neighbours had alerted her about this) the car has finally said enoughs enough and the battery has gone flat (the last time it got left on all night)
So because its a pain in the arse having to go and jump her car, i wanted to know if there was a way of disabling the parking light? Is there a wire you can cut, fuse you can pull etc that would disable the parking light but nothing else?
Thats gonna be easier than trusting her to turn the indicators off!!
Its either that or fit a buzzer that will alert her its on (any ideas , wiring diagrams on how to do that?)
Cheers
Poxy parking light on MKIII

just start refusing to help her until she learns to make sure the green light isn't flashing when she turns the engine off?
though adding a buzzer would be a neat idea ... the wiring diagram for the lights in haynes doesn't look too complicated (the only reason i didn't do a project to alter the foglight pattern - so it comes on with the sides as well as headlights - was laziness/time/not wanting to bugger it with a false move).
or if her birthday's coming up, one of those solar panel battery topper-upper things

you can probably recognise her when you're out and about by your puzzlement at exactly WHICH side road off to the left she forgot to turn down in the last three miles...
click-click click-click click-click click-click.... hmm, what's that funny noise... is it the radio? no... is it the wipers... nope.... is my door open? no! ..... what could it be then? oh well never mind... click-click click-click
^^^^^^ though the words have been slightly altered to protect the (technically, so my lawyer tells me) innocent, i've borne personal passenger-seat witness to this more than once
Mums, in cars, are pretty much a law unto themselves in terms of having near-zero awareness of their environment, whether immediate or outside the window. Should be forced to all drive flourescent pink milk floats plastered in warning triangles and flashing neon lights so everyone knows to stay well out of range as they go by.
After all, i'm pretty sure when headlights first got buzzers, it wasn't the male market segment that was being pandered to.

uh, i think you'll want some kind of NOT / XOR / NAND (my electronics is bobbins, sorry) setup in there, so that it's only going to buzz only when all the following are true: a/ door open, b/ parking (or in fact any) light on, c/ ignition OFF.
otherwise the bugger will be going off continuously anytime you have one of those lit.
