finally my car is healthy again

Post by Mk2Adam »

well as healthy as a £50 polo can be anyway.

had the fuel tank changed yesterday and the hub thread re-drilled due to a cross threaded bolt that i've had the whole time i had it, only problem was that i'd bought a new hub and bearing to replace it all  but then atleast i've got it spare for the future.

all done for £100 by my sister's VW tech boyfriend.

i can now drive around without flinching everytime i see someone fling fags out of their cars. :D

i was going to do the tank but i chickened out if i'm honest as i've never done it before. the tank was £60 from fueltanksdirect and he said it was a real pain to fit and he had to bend the arch out to get it in (but then he is a vw mech, used to having no probs lol) only took him bout 2 hours though to do both bits.

seems like my car's got it's kick back too, maybe the hole in the tank was causing a bit of slight hesitance in the acceleration 8)

nice one glad to hear it!
If tank was rusting then the petrol might have been a bit dirty and wee bits getting sucked into carb!

Fuel Filter would have cleaned any "bits" before it ever entered the carb 8)

i am indeed back! been a bit busy with college, work, lady friends etc so haven't had the time to set aside a few hours to go through all the posts!

i'm planning on keeping up to date as much as possible from now on!

you wouldn't believe how dirty my car got, it was terrible! plus stuff started going wrong! the heating packed up, the rear screen heater was arcing and smoking, a bulb is arsing around in the dash etc etc. as many jobs! :)
