Does anyone, who probably works for VW, know the totally number of Polo GTi's that were sold in the UK during their availability? (2000-2002)

Wouldn't it be cool if we could get all owners onto this forum? Now how cool would that be?

Okay, I know I'm a little sad, just pondering and having deep (totally useless) thoughts! heh heh!

It's a thought.

I know the Germans rang Wolfsburg to find out how many ''Limited Edition" GTI's were sold and WOB didn't mind telling them. They didn't manage to get them all on the forum of course, but still it's nice info.

I had the exact same thought when I bought my GTi... That's why I bought www.pologti.com !

I know they are a fairly limited run vehicle... You don't see that many of them do you?

I'm on the case, just sent the letter to VW in Milton Keynes, fingers crossed, asked for a breakdown with respect the the colours as well...will keep you posted...

Just had a call from the nice chaps at VW, they tell me they're gonna get in contact with the Marketing Department and will get them to write to me with the info. Says it could be a few days, will keep you posted...asked for a breakdown of both colours and the the number of three and five doors...

Hang on...how did they know my mobile number?

And the results are in....

I've just received the letter from VW...good news for the five door owners of 2002 models..there were only nine of you in total!

The breakdown is as follows, apparently they don't have the exact numbers for the three colours but could only tell me by year and the number of doors.

In 2000, there were 1335 produced of the three door and 685 of the five door.

In 2001, there were 904 of the three door and 445 of the five door.

In 2002, there were only 19 of the three door and only 9 of the five door!

The letter confirms the production figures so I'm not sure if that is the number produced in total (i.e for Europe etc etc) or those sold just in the UK.

I'm guessing if it says production figures then that means how many came off the production line - regardless of where they were sold.

either way you've all got a very rare car there peeps - definatly a future classic

With only approx 3500 cars, its definitely going to be a future classic. Keep hold of em boys and girls.... and be good to them.
