You want to "de-restrict the air intake"? Eh. Can I assume you mean you want to rip out the standard airbox and replace it with a K&N or Pipercross induction kit or similar?

Or drill the airbox. But unforunately on the polo's is right above the engine so drilling would just get u lots of hot air... great!

The problem with our Polos is like Demo_202 describes, the airbox is bang on top of the engine so if you fit a regular induction kit it will sound nice (if that's your thing) but will be sucking in all that lovely hot air! So drilling the airbox will have the same effect, and hotter air intake means less power under your right foot :(

What you need is a heat-shielded induction kit like the BMC, or a really good cold-air feed to the induction kit from low down at the front of the car, say behind a foglight (or, if you have no foglights, just behind that bumper mesh bit).

I don't have an induction kit on my GTi, and I haven't fitted on in my life, so here endeth my knowledge

Cheers
