I hope it really hasn't suffered oil starvation.
The engine should stop automatically when the oil pressure sender gets lack of oil. Running without oil pressure always causes irreversable damage. I reckon a given engine gets about 1000 turns without oil before it never turns again.
Lets hope its a pressure sender glitch.

I checked the oil 10 days ago: absolutely fine.
Improbable, but not impossible, it could have suffered any number of problems:
For example: spring failure in the pressure relief valve, blockage cause by short journeys or carbon deposits, pump fault, pump wear, collapsed pick-up pipe, wrong type of oil, molecular breakdown of the oil, blocked galleries, blocked filter, oil contamination, oil turned to wax, bearing breakup, cracked block, defective oil pimp, worn pump gears, sheared pump drive, missing or damaged drive teath, pickup bent against sump bottom.
Trust me, I seen it all, and I'm talking about aircraft engines where such things should never happen!

Ok then, go to a parts counter and ask for a 6n2 headlight, if it fits I will agree that you have a 6n2, if not then we can put it to rest as a 2000 6n0 saloon.
Similar story with my mom who has a mk2.5, its a mk3 front with a mk2 rear - saloon again. Its all well and good until you want a bumper for the back which is like hens teeth.
Think an old jetta bumper might fit....
